Humility ❤️ 2024 – Week 6

There is nothing to popularize a person. Only humility, which is the ability to remain in the background and to put others in the front light.

You don’t know humility until you receive yet another email (I’ve lost count, to be honest) advising that “… After careful consideration and review of your application, we have decided to progress with other candidates for this role…”!

Beautiful Tench Reserve, Penrith NSW, 🇦🇺

And I’m sure everyone else has had their fair share of humbling experiences. For me, why I find that so humbling 🤔 is because out of the many vacancies I have applied for, this response was for one that I’d carefully considered against my skillset and experiences before hitting the submit button! I was somewhat confident.

Until that email 📧! Demotivating? Yes! Humbling? Most definitely! As I started my devotion that morning with a heavy heart, the first verse of the day (VOTD) I read was:

Psalms 121:2 (NKJV)

My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth.

Uplifting! Encouraging! And it made me understand – God is supreme! When you think you can do anything all on your own, He humbles you. My friends, you don’t have to be perfect, strong, ideal, etc, to be loved or seen by God. All you need is to be a humble and contrite being – that is, in heart, mind & soul, be humble!

God knows you! He notices me! He sees each & every one of US every day! Most times, we don’t see Him because of the worldly distractions we allow to cloud our sights and minds. Let me share with you another encouraging bible verse I came across that same morning:

‭‭I Peter‬ ‭5:6‭-‬7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

[6] Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, [7] casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

So, rather than feeling sorry for myself that morning, I thanked God for that one email and countless others that serve as reminders, I was relying on my own strength to make things happen. I prayed earnestly, asking for God’s forgiveness.

Amazingly, after praying and finishing up with the daily devotion, I received a phone call for a job interview – one that I didn’t think I had a chance of getting past initial screening.

I was all smiles, thanking the person on the other end of the call, and in my mind, praising God 🙏. I’m forever humbled by God’s grace on an undeserving person like myself. And I am grateful for His abundant grace and mercy.

Luke‬ ‭14:11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

[11] For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

As Christians, we have the best example of humility in Jesus Christ, who laid down His life in order that we might be saved and put right with God ✝️❤️🙏

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:5‭-‬11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

[5] Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, [6] who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, [7] but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and  coming in the likeness of men. [8] And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the  point  of death, even the death of the cross. [9] Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, [10] that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, [11] and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Whatever your humbling experience is, I pray you will find strength in Jesus Christ to see you through it all 🙏.

To God be the glory always 🙏❤️.
