Proverbs 17:17 NKJV
[17] A friend loves at all times, And a brother is born for adversity.
The phrase ‘family, where life begins and love never ends’ has always resonated with me, but a friend’s recent loss has made me question its validity. The sudden passing of their loved one, I’m sure, has left them heartbroken and grappling with the harsh reality that life and love can indeed end unexpectedly.
This tragedy has made me realize that the quote should be revised to ‘family, where life begins and ends, and so too does love’. I think this rephrased quote better reflects the fragility of life and the pain that comes with losing loved ones.
Having said that, I want to emphasise this: the Bible teaches us that family is the foundation of love, and we are all part of God’s loving family. Created in His image, we are called to love and care for one another and for the world around us.
John 3:16 NIV
[16] For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
In times of tragedy and sorrow, there is no greater comfort than being surrounded by loved ones and friends who are a gift from God. Ultimately, we find solace in His presence.
When we can openly express our emotions, lament, grieve, and cry out for help without fear of judgment, we know we are in the company of those who care for us deeply, people whom God has blessed our lives with.
Psalms 103:17 NIV
[17] But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children—
I acknowledge that no family is flawless, and I’m not minimizing the challenges of complicated family dynamics. Everyone has their unique experiences and reasons for relating to one another, especially within families.
My intention isn’t to impose my views on others or pressure them to reconcile. Instead, I respect each person’s journey, recognizing that only God fully understands the intricacies of every family situation.
I genuinely hope and pray for divine peace and unity to descend upon those facing irreconcilable differences, trusting that God will work in their hearts and minds in His perfect timing, bringing His serene peace to prevail.

Psalms 127:3-5 NIV
[3] Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. [4] Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. [5] Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court.
To God be the glory always 🙏❤️
