🎵 The Father knows best 🙏 2024 – Week 37

Verse 1
Day by day, and with each passing moment,
Strength I find to meet my trials here;
Trusting in my Father’s wise bestowment, I’ve no cause for worry or for fear.
He, whose heart is kind beyond all measure,
Gives unto each day what He deems best, Lovingly its part of pain and pleasure, Mingling toil with peace and rest.

Verse 2
Every day the Lord Himself is near me, With a special mercy for each hour;
All my cares He fain would bear and cheer me,
He whose name is Counsellor and Power. The protection of His child and treasure Is a charge that on Himself He laid;
“As thy days, thy strength shall be in measure,”
This the pledge to me He made.

Verse 3
Help me then, in every tribulation,
So to trust Thy promises, O Lord,
That I lose not faith’s sweet consolation, Offered me within Thy holy Word.
Help me, Lord, when toil and trouble meeting,
E’er to take, as from a father’s hand,
One by one, the days, the moments fleeting,
Till I reach the promised land.

Lina Sandell Berg, ca. 1865

Here’s another song. Although I’m  not familiar with it, technology allowed me to discover the beautiful tune. These powerful lyrics beautifully capture God’s unwavering presence.

It’s so easy to lose sight of this during difficult times when emotions and doubts overwhelm us. We often question God’s presence, forgetting He’s just a prayer away.

I pray this song, along with the devotional below, serves as a timely reminder of God’s constant presence in our lives. Let’s make time to immerse ourselves in His word and lift our voices in praise.

Below is the devotional or study taken from the book “Hymns Volume 1, Daily Grace Co.”

From a small child, Lina Sandell Berg was confined to her bed with paralysis. When she turned 16, she became miraculously healed from her condition and began writing hymns of praise to the Lord.

When she was 26, she and her family were traveling by boat across a body of water when the boat lurched, and her father fell overboard and drowned before her very eyes.  About ten years later, she married and contracted typhoid fever during her first pregnancy. Their only child died at birth, but she did not allow the hard things in her life to turn her eyes away from the Lord.

Instead, she gave her broken heart to Jesus and fully trusted Him with her pain. A broken heart would at times convince us that if God were truly good, He would not allow tragedies to occur. But as Lina learned, His heart is kind beyond all measure. Ephesians 2:7 says, “So that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace through his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.?

Our definition of kindness does not begin to compare to the kindness and generosity of our Father. His “wise bestowment leaves us without the need to worry for our future. We do not have to claw our way through life, grasping onto success, prosperity, and riches.

When we trust that God has planned our day-by-day lives, we can rest in His provision. And when trials and tragedies come, we can know that we have never left His watchful eye. Knowing who God is gives us security when we do not understand.

This beautiful song is rich in meaning and encourages us to take hold of the promise that our Father knows best.

Psalms 69:16-17 NIV

[16] Answer me, Lord, out of the goodness of your love; in your great mercy turn to me. [17] Do not hide your face from your servant; answer me quickly, for I am in trouble.

To God be the glory always 🙏 ❤️
