Forbearance ❤️ 2024 – Week 40

I’m 2 weeks behind, who’s counting anyway. For week 40, the topic is forbearance: it was the theme for September’s Zoom devotion with family. Here are some snippets from the discussions with family members during the devotion – the picture above and the next paragraph.

Forbearance or patience also means to accept certain things or situations that we can not control or change. Instead, we step back & try to truly understand ourselves as individuals or the circumstances around certain situations, knowing full well of the consequences. And believing or trusting that God is there to guide us through this journey called life 😊

The next section is an extract from what was shared to us by our in-law, uncle, brother, a pastor in training, back home in PNG.

Romans 2:4 NIV
[4] Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance, and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?

It is the Forbearance of God that we are to seek and analyze our Christian walk of life with others.

Definition: Forbearance is a permissible difference; allowing some freedom to move within limits. Giving us the allowance to move very freely within our own mistakes [in general]. Or
Willingness to recognize and respect the beliefs or practices of others.

God’s forbearance is shown by not immediately punishing sinners. Instead, He has great love and demonstrates His patience and mercy by giving us time to repent and turn to Him.

Therefore, let’s remember to give back what we owe our loving God by showing love and kindness to others, especially those who are hard to love and forgive.

To God be praise and glory, Amen🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿

This sharing on forbearance, a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), encourages us to embody love, kindness, and self-control. Though it’s challenging, embracing these qualities can transform our lives and the world around us.

May these reflections encourage you & I to embody the fruits of the Spirit. May the fruits of the Spirit inspire us to live with love, kindness, and forbearance.

Kolose 3.12-14
Dirava ena abi-hidi taumui, ena helaḡa taumui, ena lalokau taumui e, ini na ba hahedokilai: hebogahisi, gado namo, manau, manada, haheauka.  Ba haheauka heheni. Ta ese bamona baine habadelaia negana ai, emui dika ba hegwau tao heheni; Lohiabada ese emui dika vada e gwau tao; umui danu unu ba kara toma.  A unu ḡau iboudiai latadiai, lalokau ba hahedokilaia; ia na ihatamonada ḡauna herea-daena.

Imagine the transformative beauty of a world guided by these virtues.

To God be the glory always 🙏
