🎶 Take My Life And Let it Be ❤️ Week 52 – 2024

V1
Take my life and let it be
consecrated, Lord, to thee.
Take my moments and my days;
let them flow in endless praise,
let them flow in endless praise.

V2
Take my hands and let them move
at the impulse of thy love.
Take my feet and let them be
swift and beautiful for thee,
swift and beautiful for thee.

V3
Take my voice and let me sing
always, only, for my King.
Take my lips and let them be
filled with messages from thee,
filed with messages from thee.

V4
Take my silver and my gold;
not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect and use,
every power as thou shalt choose,
every power as thou shalt choose.

V5
Take my will and make it thine;
it shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart it is thine own;
it shall be thy royal throne,
it shall be thy royal throne.

V6
Take my love; my Lord, I pour
at thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself, and I will be
ever, only, all for thee,
ever, only, all for thee.

~ France R. Havergal, ca 1874 ~

Can you believe it’s already December 31st? It’s astonishing how quickly the past three weeks have passed! 😇 With the holiday season in full swing, my blogging routine took a temporary backseat. Week #51 is still in draft mode, and I’ll publish it soon 🤞🏾!

As we bid farewell to the old year, I’d like to share a timeless classic: ‘Take My Life and Let it Be’ by Frances Havergal (1874). May the powerful story behind this hymn inspire and encourage us to deepen our trust in God, surrender fully to His will, and serve Him with wholehearted devotion  in 2025 and beyond.

Please read on for the devotional sourced from Hymns Volume 1, Daily Grace Co

Frances Havergal is known to this day as “the consecration poet.” Her dedication to committing her life completely to the Lord is demonstrated particularly in two lines of this meaninglul song.  When she wrote, “Take my silver and my gold,” she had in mind the instance when she sent about fifty pieces of heirloom and costly jewelry to the church to be used in evangelistic work. She was thrilled to offer these things to benefit the kingdom.

Also the line, “Take my voice and let me sing only, always for my King,” is a reference to personal sacrifice. Frances had an amazingly talented voice and could have been famous using her gift to entertain others. Instead, she chose to lead a quiet life, using her voice only in worship to God.

Romans 12:1 says, “Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship.” We may look at our lives and think we have given Him everything we can, but He has a way of seeping into the crevices and finding areas that are still hidden from His control.

Any area that we hold back from God is an area of disobedience. Are we offering our lives as a living sacrifice? Are there areas that He has been pressing on, seeking our surrender? Are we giving Him just the parts we want to, or giving all of our lives as a holy, acceptable sacrifice? Just as Christ held nothing back from us, may we follow His example, joyfully giving Him our all.
