Memory verses ❤️ Week 8 – 2025

For week 8, I’m happy to share the weekly memory verses up to last week (week 8 😊). Looking back on my Sunday school experiences, many, many moons ago, where memorizing Bible verses brought me joy, I’m reminded of the importance of childlike faith, as Jesus taught in Matthew 18:3 and I’m working to rekindle that same enthusiasm!

As we cultivate a childlike faith, let’s commit to memorizing and reciting Scripture. God’s Word is our most powerful tool to counter Satan and all his evil plans.

The memory verses are listed below, each paired with a personal reflection or prayer that I’ve written.

Week 1

Matthew 5:17 NIV

[17]  “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

Jesus Christ, as God incarnate, was not bound by the law, yet He willingly submitted Himself to it, living a life of flawless obedience. He fulfilled every prophetic word spoken about Him and lived sinlessly among humanity. However, He took upon Himself the ultimate sacrifice, becoming sin itself, and was crucified to fulfill God’s will. This ultimate act of love and obedience provided the perfect sacrifice to redeem humanity, restoring our relationship with, and reconciling us to, God 🙏❤️

Week 2

Matthew 9:13 NIV

[13] But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

We receive God’s mercy and grace daily. We must share this grace and mercy with everyone around us 🙏❤️

Merciful God, thank you for loving us while we were still sinners. Thank you, Jesus, for taking our place on the cross ✝️ saving and redeeming us from the powers of sin and death. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for guiding and leading us always. In Jesus’ name, Amen 🙏

Week 3

Matthew 11:28 NIV

[28]  “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

We can not add to or take away from what Jesus said. Jesus’ promise of rest is not just for eternity but also for the present. When we trust in Him, we can find rest from our worries and burdens, freeing us from the cycle of self-reliance and overexertion that can lead us away from faith. 🙏❤️

Week 4

Matthew 16:24 NIV

[24] Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.

It is a timely reminder to take stock of what God has done in our lives and to start serving and witnessing for Him with purpose and intent. Jesus died on the cross for everyone. He is the way back to God for ALL mankind. Therefore, we must make sure to bring the good news of Jesus to others, especially those who are yet to know Him. We can not wait for people to come. We must reach out to them, because how will they know that this invitation is open to them as well, if we don’t share it with them?❤️🙏

Week 5

Matthew 22:37-38 NIV
[37] Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ [38] This is the first and greatest commandment.

Lord, forgive me, I’m a sinner and I’ve forgotten to love you this past couple of days, drowning in self pity & my physical aches & pain. I pray for strength & peace that passes all understanding. I pray for your healing physically, mentally & spiritually. There is no doctor or medicine here on earth that can do all three except the blood of Jesus. Thank you Father, Thank you Jesus, Thank you Holy Spirit! Amen 🙏

Week 6

Matthew 28:19-20 NIV

[19] Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, [20] and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Help us Father to be strong and bold messengers of your Good News, in Jesus’ name, Amen 🙏

Week 7

Mark 6:56 NIV

[56] And wherever he went—into villages, towns or countryside—they placed the sick in the marketplaces. They begged him to let them touch even the edge of his cloak, and all who touched it were healed.

People begged Jesus to let them touch even the edge of His cloak to be healed. What are you and I asking for from Jesus today? ❤️🙏

Week 8

Mark 10:45 NIV

[45] For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Open our eyes and ears to see and hear you, Lord. Grant us strength and courage to free up our hearts and minds to accept You alone as our Saviour. To be able to feel & understand Your grace and mercy, and be able to share that with others around us, especially those who are yet to come to know you personally. In Jesus’ name, Amen 🙏

I’m sure many of you have a favorite memory verse. For me, growing up, it was John 3:16 – a verse I can still recite in both English and my native language, Motu.

John 3:16 NIV
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life

Ioane 3.16 Motu
Badina be Dirava ese tanobada ini elalokau henia tomamu: Natuna vara-edeana vada eme heni, bae abidadama henia taudia iboudiai na basie e mase a mauri hanaihanai bae abia.

To God be the glory always 🙏❤️
