2026, Week 4 – Aligned

Where Sky, Scripture & Spirit Meet

🔙 May 2025, 📸 taken from Air Raro plane somewhere in the air between Rarotonga and Aitutaki 🙌

I took the photo above on an Air Raro flight between Rarotonga and Aitutaki in May last year. When we left Raro, the island was wrapped in rain, the sky heavy and grey. But as the plane climbed, we broke through the clouds—and everything shifted.

Above them, the sky opened wide, endlessly blue, flooded with sunlight. That clarity remained with us all the way until we descended into Aitutaki.

It was mesmerising.
And deeply humbling.

Looking out the window, it felt as though heaven was close—that I could reach out and touch God’s hands. The moment stirred a memory of a Psalm, but I couldn’t recall the exact verses. So I wrote this poem titled “my God, You are there”!

Oh, if I were to reach the
ceilings of the sky
Painted blue or grey
Clouds or no clouds
Rain or sunshine
I will not be afraid for I know
my God, You are there

Oh, if I were to sail to the
ends of the world
Under blue or grey skies
Through calm or stormy seas
Rain or sunshine
I will not be afraid for I know for certain
my God, You are there

It was only after we landed and I had access to the internet that I was able to look it up and confirm the verse that had been living inside me in that moment. An experience letting me know that sometimes God speaks to us first, and our minds catch up later.

Bible reading 📚

Psalm 139:9–10 (NKJV)
“If I take the wings of the morning,
And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
Even there Your hand shall lead me,And Your right hand shall hold me.”

Reflection 🙌

The truth that this Psalm declares:

there is nowhere we can go where God is not already present.

And there is something profoundly spiritual about moments when nature and Scripture collide in the soul: our lives are always aligned with God’s purpose. We must remind ourselves daily of that truth.

Looking out the plane window that day, the contrast between the rainy departure and the radiant sky above the clouds was a physical reminder of God’s presence in every season of our lives.

The words of the poem were not only a reflection of what I saw, but a declaration of what I know to be true. Even when the weather changes, even when the sky shifts, even when life feels uncertain—God remains. Psalm 139 came to mind—not as a memory of a verse, but as a living truth. It wasn’t simply a Bible passage; it was an experience.

In that moment, Psalm 139 became more than a verse to memorize. It became a promise I could feel—written across the sky.

🙌 His hand is holding us.
🙌 His presence is with us.
🙌 His love is constant.

And just like the plane rose above the clouds, so too can our hearts rise above fear and doubt when we remember that we are not traveling alone.

Prayer 🙏

Father God,
Thank You for Your constant presence in every season of life—
in the rain, in the sunshine,
in the calm, and in the storm.
Thank You that there is nowhere we can go where You are not already there.

Even when we cannot see the way,
even when the clouds seem heavy,
Your hand is still guiding us,
Your love is still holding us.
Help us to live with confidence,
knowing that our lives are held in Your hands.

When fear rises, remind us of Your nearness.
When doubt comes, remind us of Your faithfulness.
May our hearts stay aligned with You—
above the clouds, beneath the sky,
and in every step of our journey.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

To God be the glory always 🙏
