Purpose in life!

…Purpose is not related to career or career. It’s related to what God put inside you that you’re supposed to give to the world.”

Chadwick Boseman

I love that quote by late Chadwick Boseman, which was part of his response to a question asked by someone backstage at the 2019 NAACP Image awards. The question was if he felt he was living his true purpose. Wow!!

For someone who knew his illness was terminal, yet there he was fielding and answering questions as if he had his whole life ahead of him. How inspiring!!

He lived live to the fullest and did not let his illness stand in the way of getting his message out there, and that was to live life purposefully so that whatever God put inside of him, he gave to the world wholeheartedly ❤. May he rest in God’s peace forever. Here’s an extract from the transcript of his interview:

“…I feel that I’m living my purpose. But the thing about purpose is that it unfolds to you more and more everyday. You could be living in what was revealed to you at a particular time, and then you might get stagnated because there’s more that you’re supposed to do. It doesn’t just stop as you do one thing. I think it’s about being open to what you’re supposed to do at this moment and not getting stuck in the past. Purpose is not related to career or career. It’s related to what God put inside you that you’re supposed to give to the world.”

Chadwick Boseman

I’m pretty sure it’s bible inspired and the verse that comes to mind is:

Proverbs 19:21 (ESV)
Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.

I believe this purpose of God extends beyond mankind and onto all of His creation including the flowers, trees, grass, the sky, sun, moon, stars and so many other beautiful things: each created for a different & unique purpose to complement each other! Amen 🙏

So when you’re next out and about – Stop! Not just to smell the roses but also the wild flowers growing freely by the pavements or ponds.

Stand! And admire the grass as they dance elegantly to the late afternoon breeze that’s blowing.

Look up! At the clouds, and beyond and as you admire the them or the sunrise or the sunset, see how the trees, plants, insects, animals and so on, around you, prepare for the end of day or start of a new day.

You will notice all these things don’t worry about what happened the day before or what will happen during the new day, they’re up and open for the new day to live out their purpose.

Jeremiah 29: 11 (NKJV)
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Don’t get caught up in the past and don’t fear too much about the unknown future: rather live life purposefully in the present, confident in the knowledge that God placed you here on earth for a purpose that is unique to you.

God bless us all always 🙏❤
