Wk31-23: God’s perspective

May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble; May the name of the God of Jacob defend you;
Psalms 20:1 NKJV

It’s so simple to thank God and look at our circumstances from His perspective, when times are good and it’s smooth sailing all around. Even so, many of us still struggle to acknowledge God when the going is good.

During difficult and trying times, is there a good time to start seeing and understanding our situations from God’s perspective? Is there a cue to follow? Are we allowed to question God? Why? How? When? What?

Trust me, I would be lying if I say I don’t have those thoughts and questions. I’ve questioned myself, my faith, my God, these past few months. Yet I come up with no answers – it’s as if God has turned His face away from me, I feel so abandoned by my God!!

I took this photo on the bus this morning, 01.08.2023: attempting to catch the sun’s rays through the bus window. The camera’s auto-focus feature, with me tapping on the device several times to help it focus on the sunlight, helped me realise something: that the picture with or without autofocus is still beautiful.

Rather than focus on our environment, we must always look beyond our circumstances to feel and know God’s perspective. We may not understand it, but once we acknowledge His perspective in our lives through all the noise and disruption that the devil is using to distract us – we will be at peace and experience His grace.

Thanks to a spiritual mentor’s words of encouragement last night and this simple photo – I understand now that God has not turned His face away from me, rather it’s been me all along, looking away or taking my focus away from God and looking elsewhere for answers.

God’s perspective reminds us that He is omnipotent (all-powerful), omnipresent (ever present) and omniscient (all knowing). That in ALL circumstances, both good and bad times, we must be at peace with God’s divine sovereignty.

But he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity?” In all this, Job did not sin with his lips.
