A tribute to late Grand Chief, Sir Michael Thomas Somare. Founding father of our island nation, Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬
I wonder what it felt like
To have gazed upon your final sunset?
Did you have a sense of accomplishment?
Were you sad or happy for your beloved Papua New Guinea?
One can only speculate
About those final hours!
But as we look back on the past 45+ years
Every Papua New Guinean has NO excuse to wonder or speculate about those years.
A life lived truly well and wholly committed to PNG
Not just noticed from the accolades pouring out over the past two weeks!
But evident in PNG being recognised as a sovereign nation since 16 September 1975.
Yes there’s been struggles
And corruption, and many more issues!
All symbolic of a developing nation
We will get there, because we know better NOW. I sincerely hope we have learned!
To draw on your strengths
Learn from your mistakes
Forgive easily and move on
And respect ALL!
Pre, during and post Independence!
Throughout your whole life!
And at your final sunset!
You have acomplished the unimaginable, and that is, UNITED the land of a thousand tribes and languages.
Fly high among the angels, Sana!🇵🇬❤ May your beautiful soul rest in God’s eternal peace forever 🙏
