A poem inspired by my mum’s life! ๐น๐

Forgiveness, for me,
Is what Mum taught
Me from a very early age.Not that I always listened,
Or heeded every word,
But in hindsight,
It all makes sense.Forgiveness, as reflected
In Mum’s life,
Meant loving unconditionally.Loving people despite
The wrongs they had done to you,
And keeping no record
Of their offences. She would always remind me,
“Don’t stoop to their level.”Keep your head held high.
Don’t let the bad in others
Drain the goodness within you.Forgiveness, as lived out
In Mum’s life,
Meant meeting people
At their lowest.Offering love
And extending grace
Far beyond what they deserved.Holding onto grudges,
She reminded me,
Is like cancer. It slowly eats away
At the very centre of your being,
Leaving the heart bitter
And the soul weary.For Mum,
Forgiveness was the Cross. โ๏ธOur only hope, she would say.
Our Saviour,
Choosing to die on the Cross,
In our place.Makes sense, that’s why
Forgiveness matters.Loved, therefore forgiven.
Where love abides,
Forgiveness follows.Not because it’s easy,
Nor because people deserve it,
But because we have first
Been forgiven.

Romans 5:6-8 NIV
[6] You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. [7] Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. [8] But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Dedicated to the memory of our dearest Mum, Vabu Vavia. โค๏ธ
Come August 29, 2026 – it will be five years since her passing. Yet not a day goes by that we don’t miss her โ her love, her wisdom, her prayers, and the quiet strength of her faith.
Her prayers carried us then, they carry us still, and we believe they will continue to carry us always. ๐
Five years may have passed, but her love and the lessons she left behind remain deeply woven into who we are.
Fly high with the angels, Iaia ๐ Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever grateful. โค๏ธ
